Cooking

This is a super compact and easy way to cook during your adventures! You can use it to boil normal food like noodles, make hot chocolate or coffee, or add boiling water to pre-made dry meals!

This is what you need to make the best campfire meal ever! Take some bread (more square instead of rectangle works better) and butter the outsides of the bread. Put one piece of bread butter side down in each square iron. Slather some pizza sauce on the bread and then fill with shredded cheese, pepperoni, and whatever other pizza toppings you want! Close the pizza iron up and hold over the fire. As with other fire cooking, holding your pizza iron over hot coals will be more effective than the flames, but either works. Just make sure to open the iron contraption and peek at your bread frequently so you don’t burn it. Once it’s golden brown on both sides, you are ready to plop your pizza pie out onto a plate or napkin. It will be very hot, so wait a couple minutes and then take your first delicious bites! You can do lots of other things with these irons too: apple, blueberry, or cherry pie, grilled ham & cheese, or get creative!

There are some dry food options that don’t require boiling water. This breakfast option is nice because it’s still tasty and filling, but you don’t have to worry about boiling the water first, so you can eat and quickly hit the trails!

If you are sick of eating trail mix and summer sausage for every meal while hiking/backpacking/camping, then try this “just add water” food! It definitely works best and will be most satisfying with boiling water. You can find JetBoil, a super quick way to boil water on the go, in our “Cooking” section as well.

This is nice for ease of transport and to keep your car clean because the irons tend to get dirty with ash and whatnot.
